Hi, I'm looking for options for unstructured data monitoring and protection and would like to get some opinions from people who implemented such solutions. The main requirement is auditing access to sensitive files on a SMB share, the secondary requirement (a nice to have) is managing the access permissions on the files and being able to map the entire permission sets on the file server. I'm familiar with Varonis and they can certainly do that but I'm looking for other options as well. The first part can be achieved with the built-in filesystem auditing features of windows, through events in the system logs, those events can then be collected by even a free splunk server and turned into reports. This solution however does not have the added benefit of being able to set/monitor permissions on a file server level. So I'd like to hear your ideas:) Thanks.
